However, no official statement has been issued on the negotiations.
After the two leaders met in South Korea, a debate erupted among political commentators about which leader came out on top. Since they last met in 2019, Xi Jinping and the US president entered the talks with a much stronger bargaining position. Specifically, this refers to China’s scientific and economic strength.
The Chinese leader’s statements emphasized equality between the two countries. Xi Jinping stressed that China-US relations should be more like those of two peers and that this should be demonstrated to other countries.
